My Doyle Lineage |

| PATRICK DOYLE |
was born about 1831, according to his age as recorded on his death record, and resided at the townland
of Killeen in the Parish of Meelick, Swinford, County Mayo. On the 17th of February, 1851, Patrick married Mary Bolingbroke. The witnesses were Daniel McDermott and Mary Royan. They had 10 known children between 1851 and 1872. Very little is known of Maria (Mary); she is listed on my grandfather's death certificate as Mary Bullenbook, a variation which may have resulted from my grandmother's anglo-irish accent. She is also mentioned as a school teacher in "A Dominant Church", compiled by Liam Swords, and published by The Columbia Press, 2004. On the 26th of August, 1881, Patrick died at the age of 50, suffering from typhoid fever for 5 weeks. The informant of his death was Ellen Doyle. Ellen may be an unknown sister or his assumed brother Martin's granddaughter. A sister seems more logical, since the granddaughter was about 17 at the time. The Bolingbroke name can be found through out my lineage, as sponsors to baptisms and witnesses to weddings. Another Maria Bolingbroke married Patrick Doyle in 1871, the son of Martin Doyle. I found the name Bullenbrook at least once on the Kilconduff/Swinford R. C. registers. |

| MARTIN DOYLE |
was born about 1828, according to his age as recorded on his death record. He was married
on the 11th of December, 1845 to Mary Roach. The witnesses were John Doyle,
possibly another brother, and Ellen
Roach. Martin died on the 20th of July, 1883 at age 55. He suffered from 'a liver complaint for seven months' and was not attended by a doctor. The informant of his death was Mary Doyle of Culleens, probably his wife. Patrick Doyle and Martin Doyle leased land in Killeen in the 1850's. According to Griffith's Valuation of Tenements, 1856, each leased land from Rev. D. B. Seymour who resided at Athlone. They were probably brothers, and the names of their parents are unknown. |
