Some of these photos were taken in October, 2001 when my son and I visited Ireland for a week on a driving tour. We drove from the Shannon Airport, through Counties Clare, Galway, and Mayo; then back to the Tarbert Ferry on the Shannon Estuary and into County Kerry, Cork City and back to the
Shannon Airport. Realizing a week was not much time, I returned in April 2002, for a four-week tour by public transportation. It was difficult getting to places not served by bus or train, but I managed to visit some sites by taxi. I was also quite fortunate to meet internet friends from New Jersey in Kiltimagh, County Mayo, who drove me around that area, including my ancestors' hometown of Swinford, and finally to Donegal town. I am extremely grateful for their help in Ireland but also all of the help that was provided through the internet. Unfortunately, I made very few notes during my trip, and I've had trouble identifying some of the sources of my photos. I am putting all my pictures on the internet first, and then tagging them later as I find time. If you recognize any misidentified sites or locations, please Email your thoughts to me.
