My McLean Lineage


Very little is known about the McLean branch of my family prior to my grandfather Joseph McLean (below).   The 1880 Philadelphia census shows Joseph McLean, age 8, living with one Robert Strawbridge who may be his uncle by marriage. His baptismal certificate lists his parents as John McLean and Mary Anne Logue.  I have found nothing in the census records about either one.  Research continues.
JOSEPH F. McLEAN was born on the 17th of October 1871 in Philadelphia and was baptized on the 29th of October 1871 (extracted from his baptismal certificate from the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul). He was married to Mary Ellen Boyle on the 21st of July 1891 at Elkton, Maryland, then remarried on the 7th of December 1891 at the Cathedral of SS. Peter & Paul in Philadelphia, and they had four daughters.  He died on the 11th of October, 1944 at a Philadelphia center city hospital and was interred at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham PA, on the 14th of October, 1944.

Mary Ellen was born on the 8th of October 1875 in Philadelphia and died on the 21st of September 1939 at Jewish Hospital in Philadelphia.  She was interred at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham PA, on the 25th of September 1939.  Please  refer to My Boyle Lineage for Mary Ellen's line.
